Blog Case Study
A redesigned website built for readability and accessiblity
Objective:
The goal was to rebuild the student-led newspaper The Thielensian‘s website. Allowing the readers to be able to access a clean, easy to navigate news site.
The Challenge:
Use the preexisting WordPress.com website and update the theme so that the archive articles would still be accessible. WordPress.com, unlike other WordPress hosting options is not as feature-packed for custom themes and has limitations based on plans.
My Approach:
Visual Identity: Leveraged pre-built WordPress themes to find a theme that would be customizable to make the Thielensian’s website feels new and custom.
Content Strategy: I was able to keep the backlog of existing articles to make sure that everything was still accessible for any interested readers.
User Accounts: Made sure that all of the staff had their own login to the WordPress site so that they would be able to post their own articles.
Results
Professional Branding: Launched a fully functional, high-quality website that serves as the primary touchpoint for readers.
Operational Efficiency: Integrated posting workflows, reducing writing friction for the staff.
